Why I Joined Mary Kay: Finding a Business That Aligned With My Faith and Purpose
When people hear that I'm a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant, one of the first questions they ask is:
"So... why did you join Mary Kay?"
The truth is, my decision had very little to do with makeup.
Instead, it had everything to do with finding a company whose values aligned with the life I wanted to build.
A Business Built on the Right Priorities
One of the first things that stood out to me about Mary Kay was its guiding philosophy:
God First. Family Second. Career Third.
That wasn't just a catchy slogan- it reflected the order of priorities I wanted in my own life.
I never wanted my career to come at the expense of my faith or my family. I wanted the freedom to build something meaningful while keeping those relationships at the center of everything I do.
Knowing that Mary Kay was founded on those same principles gave me confidence that I was joining something bigger than a beauty company.
The Freedom to Build a Business My Way
I've always loved the idea of being my own boss.
Having the flexibility to work around my schedule instead of structuring my life around a traditional job was incredibly appealing.
Whether I'm meeting with customers, sharing products online, or working with someone one-on-one, I have the opportunity to create a business that fits my life and my goals.
I also appreciate that when I sell products through my personal website or during appointments, I earn a 50% commission. That flexibility allows me to grow my business while serving others in a way that feels authentic.
It's About More Than Skincare
Of course, I love the products.
Helping someone discover a skincare routine that gives them confidence is rewarding.
But what has surprised me the most isn't the products- it's the people.
I've met incredible women through Mary Kay.
Women who encourage one another.
Women who celebrate each other's successes.
Women who genuinely want to see one another grow.
Those relationships have become one of the greatest blessings of this journey.
A Business That Supports My Calling
As I've continued growing in my faith and serving women through life coaching, I've realized how naturally Mary Kay fits into that mission.
Both allow me to help women build confidence.
Both allow me to encourage women to care for themselves.
Both create opportunities to build genuine relationships.
And both remind me that success isn't just about accomplishments- it's about serving others well.
For me, Mary Kay isn't separate from my purpose. It's one of the ways I get to live it out.
Dreaming Bigger
One thing I love about Mary Kay is that every consultant gets to define success differently.
Some women simply enjoy sharing products with friends and family.
Others choose to build teams, mentor women, and grow into leadership.
For me, one of my biggest dreams is to become a Mary Kay Sales Director and one day earn the privilege of driving the iconic Pink Cadillac Career Car.
That dream isn't about the car itself.
It's about what it represents: consistency, leadership, personal growth, and the opportunity to encourage other women to pursue goals they may have once thought were out of reach.
More Than a Business
Joining Mary Kay wasn't just about starting a business.
It was about saying yes to an opportunity that aligned with my values, strengthened my confidence, and allowed me to build meaningful relationships while helping other women do the same.
I'm grateful for the journey so far, and I'm excited to see where God leads next.
If you've ever been curious about Mary Kay- whether it's the products, the business opportunity, or simply what it's really like to be a consultant- I would love to connect with you. There's never any pressure, just an opportunity to have a conversation and see if it's something that could be a good fit for your goals.
After all, sometimes saying "yes" to one small opportunity can lead to something much bigger than you ever imagined.
