The Waiting Room: Learning to Trust God While You Wait

Waiting is one of the hardest parts of faith.

It's easy to say, "Trust God's timing" when everything is going well. But when you're sitting in the middle of uncertainty, wondering when something will change, trusting God can feel much harder.

Why does God make us wait? What are we supposed to do while we're waiting? And how do we keep trusting when we don't understand?

I've learned that sometimes waiting isn't about God withholding something from us. Sometimes, it's about what He's doing in us and around us that we can't see yet.

My Season of Waiting

In 2022, I was dealing with health problems and ended up hospitalized for a month. After I recovered, my mom was injured in a freak accident while walking her dog. Almost overnight, I became a caregiver, and my life changed completely.

It became clear that my mom needed a one-floor home. At the time, I still had my condo in Florida, but our family realized that maintaining two homes in different states wasn't realistic.

Selling that condo was incredibly difficult.

It was my home. I had furnished it, decorated it, and launched my business from it. It represented a life I loved.

But I knew I had to let it go.

My Florida life had been my dream life, and moving back to Virginia wasn't part of my plan. Suddenly, I was waiting on God to show me what came next.

After weeks of searching for a home in Virginia, we couldn't find the right fit. So we drove to South Carolina to look at homes.

My parents ended up buying the home where we now live just three weeks after we closed on the Florida condo. The home was ready in November 2023, and we were fully moved in by July 2024.

Looking back, I can see God's hand in the entire process.

What God Taught Me About Waiting

Before this season, I never doubted that God could provide. But waiting taught me that He would provide.

Sometimes waiting is about preparing our hearts. Other times, God is orchestrating circumstances that we can't see yet.

We see one piece of the puzzle. God sees the whole picture.

So what do we do while we wait?

We pray. But we also keep moving.

We prepare.
We learn.
We serve.
We take the next step.
We continue trusting.

Waiting doesn't mean doing nothing. Waiting can be active faith.

Maybe you're waiting for a job, a car, money for school, a spouse, a home, or simply direction for your next season.

Whatever you're waiting for, remember:

You don't have to understand God's timing to trust His character.

God knows what He's doing- even when you can't see it yet.
